Helen Zille visits goals4kids

During her trip to Germany in 2012, Helen Zille, Premier of the South African Province Western Cape also visited Kulmbach after Berlin and Munich.

As patron of goals4kids, she participated in a sports event organized by the students of Caspar-Vischer-Gymnasium (secondary school) in favor of the association.

Around 1.000 students gathered on the sports grounds of the Gymnasium and gave Mrs. Zille a very warm reception. Visibly taken by this, the South African politician with German ancestors devoted quite some time to the students and enjoyed the personal contacts very much. She was greatly impressed by the Gymnasium and the Röhl Villa, which she also visited and which belongs to the school.

During the sports event, 17 teams from the school competed against each other seeking to score many goals and points in the divisions soccer, basketball and volleyball. These scores were later transformed into an amount of money, which brings benefits to those children in Germany and South Africa sponsored by goals4kids.

At the end of her visit, Helen Zille honored the three best teams of the event with certificates and trophies and thanked them for their great engagement. “It is very praiseworthy that you are worrying about children that are not doing so well,” Zille addressed the children. “I would like to thank you all that you participated today and enabled other children a better future.”
