It is therefore important to me personally –as father of three children– to open up new and long-lasting perspectives to children from socially disadvantaged families whether in Germany of South Africa, for their further development in life. Children, who did not get a chance for an adequate education, can hardly escape poverty and social isolation as adults.”

Karl Matthäus Schmidt and his colleagues founded Consors Discount-Broker AG in 1994. It was the first fully operational online broking company in Germany. His entrepreneurial success reflects in a number of awards, e.g. “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Wirtschaftswoche or the HORIZONT Award as “Man of the Year” by HORIZONT.
Since May 2006, Mr. Karl Matthäus Schmidt, is Spokesman of the Management Board of quirin bank AG.
In October 2006, Mr. Karl Matthäus Schmidt won the National Leadership Award granted by the Economic Forum Deutschland.
